about

'How Am Ur' was written during the Ensemble songwriting workshops with people who have lived experience of mental health issues. This song was written by Ross Clark, Jodie Shaw and Stacey Bell.

This song is about moving from a bad situation to a slightly better situation. Something which we need to do with mental health stigma, leaving it behind.

lyrics

Am bothering no one, you’re bothering me,
The people are shouting across the street
They’re sending their letters,
when they come through the door,
I’ll be reading their lies out as they stamp on the floor

The upstairs neighbours are giving me grief,
All I wanna do is get away
Give me some relief,
I’ve been trying for ages
to move away from this stress
When the pigs fill the stairwells I’m surrounded by mess.

Found a new place to call my home
How am ur, how am ur, don’t ask me how am ur
How am ur, how am ur, don’t ask me how am ur

Now I open my new door, friendly faces to see
There's a good guy downstairs, being nice to me
Get out in the garden, get the sun on my arms
I’m where I wanna be now, free from alarm

Found a new place to call my home
How am ur, how am ur, don’t ask me how am ur
How am ur, how am ur, don’t ask me how am ur
Left behind all the negative moaners,
How am ur, how am ur, don’t ask me how am ur
How am ur, how am ur, don’t ask me how am ur
